Across the Middle East, the crisis is escalating by the hour. Civilians are being killed and injured, and families are fleeing for their lives as homes, schools and hospitals come under attack.
In Lebanon, intense airstrikes have forced tens of thousands of people to flee to emergency shelters – some on foot. Others are sleeping on the road or in their cars, desperately seeking safety.
UNHCR is mobilising aid across the region, delivering emergency supplies such as mattresses, blankets and sleeping mats to families who are fleeing with almost nothing. Dedicated teams are also monitoring the situation at borders and preparing to support refugees with crucial aid.
But as violence continues, needs are rising rapidly. Refugees and internally displaced people who were already living in vulnerable conditions now face even greater danger.
The UN Refugee Agency will stay and deliver across the region, protecting lives and providing emergency assistance for those in need. But more help is urgently needed.
Please donate now to help families fleeing for their lives.
The majority of funds raised by Aotearoa New Zealand for UNHCR are directed to UNHCR’s emergency operations, providing the ready funds and resources to respond quickly and effectively in situations of crisis and disaster.
